Meet Susan Bundock

The Smithers Visitors Centre is a non-profit organization which is governed by the Board of the Smithers Chamber of Commerce. Manager Heather Gallagher is passionate about promoting Smithers and all of its amazing businesses, recreational opportunities and outdoor destinations.

Heather notes that shopping, dining and staying with a local independent business means that guests and residents alike are dealing directly with the people who have a personal investment in the business. She feels this makes a big difference in the level and quality of service the customer receives. And, Heather adds, "Everything you do here can be described as "an experience." If you're shopping, you're having an engaging experience of walking the red-bricked sidewalks and finding unique boutiques. The shopping district is very contained so a shopper can walk to stores, pop by funky coffee shops or local eateries and still have time to check out the vast array of sporting goods stores with a wide selection of outdoor fashions and all the gear to give you an excellent "backcountry experience."

Heather and fellow staff member and administrator Susan Bundock feel that Smithers offers residents and potential investors a rich quality of life. Skiing may be one of the most well-known recreational opportunities in Smithers, but its lakes, mountains and woods give residents and visitors a plethora of outdoor adventure possibilities. The small town atmosphere makes it easy to get to know fellow residents. "Everyone knows your name," Heather remarks. "And if you're new, people make a point of getting to know you. The people are what make the town."
