Meet Mike Bovill & Kelly Ehalt
Brother and sister team Mike Bovill and Kelly Ehalt took over Hetherington and Hooper Store from their parents in 2004. The store has been a central part of the business community since it was first opened in 1950 by Gordon Hetherington and Owen Hooper. Mike and Kelly’s father, Jack, became a business partner in 1969 and then the full owner in 1977. It has been in the family ever since. Mike and Kelly are proud to be carrying on a tradition that is an important part of both their family history and their community.
Both Mike and Kelly agree that their ties to Smithers run deep. Having grown up here, they say “Our customers are more than customers, they are friends.” These relationships motivate them to provide great service and quality products and to contribute to the lifestyle of the town and its residents. They regularly support local schools, fundraisers, charities, clubs and sporting organizations.
One of the things that they appreciate about doing business in Smithers is that, although other businesses in Smithers may be considered their competition, local business owners are quick to work together. As for living here, they both love the mountain scenery and the fact that “everything we love to do is in our back yard.”
Unique. Dynamic. Modern.
Hetherington and Hooper have been a proud part of the community since 1950 and is one of Smithers’ oldest businesses. Hetherington and Hooper carries a diverse selection of men’s and women’s apparel, outerwear and footwear, from Woolrich, Royal Robbins, Carhartt, Redwing, Canada Goose, Skechers, Bugatchi, Ecco, Tribal and Heritage34.
Hetherington and Hooper is a member of the Smithers Downtown Merchants and the Smithers Chamber of Commerce.
