Weary travelers can rest easy at the Aspen Inn and Suites. Rooms are available for one to four guests, while a family room can accommodate mom, dad and kids comfortably. Executive suites are also available for one to two people. All rooms feature an in-room fridge, microwave and hairdryer plus convenient WiFi access. Stay-and-ski packages are often available.

The Aspen Inn and Suites and the Riverhouse Restaurant and Lounge are members of the Smithers Chamber of Commerce and the BC Hotel Association. The business has won a number of awards over the years, including the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Excellence Award, and has been nominated for several others.

Meet Gary Vaale, Allan Macdonald & Colin Bateman
Brothers-in-law Gary Vaale and Allan MacDonald saw Smithers as a great investment when it came to travel opportunities, so they started the Aspen Inn and Suites in 1979. It turned out to be a good bet, and business has been successful with the growth and development of the local ski resort, although travellers come to Smithers for many different attractions, not the least of which is outdoor activities like fishing, hunting and a variety of others.
Colin Bateman is the General Manager of the inn and the Riverhouse Restaurant and Lounge and his job is never dull. He meets people from all over the world, but always appreciates his own grounding in the local community. In Smithers, he says, "Everybody knows your name." He also adds that "Everything here is accessible."
Colin is active in a variety of community groups and organizations. However, his main passion is sports, and when he isn't busy at work he might be found on the field or the ice coaching youth sports.
